Of course, because day labor is the by-product of the slave economy that is present in the US. Dummies like the Minuteklan go attack the slaves and ignore the slave owners who are typically not Middle class... for instance Tyson Foods is a corporation that represents the elite, the upper class, not the middle class. The desire, as you say, is based on miserable and unlivable conditions in Mexico (and elsewhere, Asia etc.) coupled with the "if you build it they will come" mentality of contractors and the corporate masters.
