You don't have the complete picture. They both hammer each others.

This could be why!! because each one of them does NOT consider the other one as a true Muslims, and there you have the major reason. Did you know at the time of Saddam the Shittes were not able to practice and celebrate their holiday! Saddam is Sunni and he prohibited them from practicing their religion. Ask the Kurds how much they suffered by the sunni Muslims. They were tortured and suffered a lot of death under Saddam. Did you know, and now Saddam is gone, and they can stand up, and say we have rights too. Sadly, many people have to die every day so as these two groups can reach a point of Peace!!! if they ever will, who knows! Each believe they are right and the other one is wrong, and so is the river of blood will run more and more ever day. God help them all.

That's a good idea. Then the Sunnis will hammer down the Shittes. Oh wait, that would be wrong too...

Maybe you idiots should wake up and stop killing each other.

No rational person can really justify any of this. The violence in Iraq is between opposing gangs of street thugs acting under the guise of 'religion'. This al-Sadr character is a big part of the problem as he is inciting violence; he should be taken out and shot. Another good response would be to bomb all the mosques on both sides because this so called 'religion' is the cause of all the violence and the mosques therefore should be a valid military target, as are all the so-called "clerics". Decapitate and demolish the "religion" and kill off all the "clerics" and you go a long way towards solving the problem.

any organization that thinks their leader is perfect or can do no wrong. this what i think of it since we are all horrible people and noone is holier than anyone as far as i can tell.

The doctrine of the Nicolaitans was mentioned in the Apocalypse of John Revelation chapter 2. It is a symbolic name of a group of people that represents the hierarchy of a ruling class over the rest of the people, developing a pecking order of fleshly leadership. Jesus hates this and warns the people to repent. It is not the question of the ministries but rather in the separation of them into a hierarchy over the people. This very idea was taken over by the Protestants with their own corruption of leadership roles and coverings. The Church of Ephesus was commended for hating the deeds of the Nicolaitans. The wrong separation of the clergy from the laity is a great evil in God's sight and He hates the lust for religious power over others. There is an ungodly spiritual authority in the Church today, which is nothing more than the prideful spirit of control, manipulation, domination and intimidation and a rebellion of the rightful authority of God

There is no justification in either the she its or the Sunnis, In my opinion the world should not support anything in the Middle East, they kill for the sake of killing leave them alone and they will eventually do them selves in, the world would be a lot better off if they did because they have no respect for human life, it simply means nothing to them, they walk with a sword in one hand and a prayer in the other, and they call themselves a peaceful people.

how can any violence against another group be justified? i'm pretty sure that it's gone both ways in the past. these things just don't crop up and they are cyclical. i'm pretty sure the Shiites have done their part as well. how do you justify it? you don't. unless you are a Shiite or a Sunni, in which case you probably have plenty of justification--the same as all of us feel justified--why does the U.S. feel justified to help one side and not the other? It a little too mixed up to try to simplify it as you are trying to do .

And, you are a Sunni, I would guess.

Look at what the Sunnis did to the Shia for so many years under Saddam. ''Turn about is fair play''.

Tho, they both are acting like madmen, and should work for their country, and not against it.
