Where people go after death is a great question. In the end I believe that nobody has really proved whether we go to heaven like some religions say or if we just no longer exist. I personally am a catholic but I don't really believe in god or heaven. So after death I think that we just rot in the ground. Our souls may rise and float throughout the universe though.

Actually when people die; they're asleep in the grave til Jesus comes back.
Death is called a sleep (Matt.9:24; John 11:11; 1Cor.15:51; 1Thess.5:10).
The spirit goes back to God that gave it!(Eccles.12:7; Psalm 146:4)
The Bible describes three hells.
SHEOL OR HADES, THE FIRST HELL
The first term in Greek and Hebrew means the grave. It's the grave where the dead await the resurrection.
GENESIS 37:35---I SHALL GO DOWN INTO THE GRAVE.
PROVERBS 15:11--HELL & DESTRUCTION ARE BEFORE THE LORD.
ECCLES.9:10---NO WORK...OR KNOWLEDGE...IN THE GRAVE,
MATT.11:23---WILL BE BROUGHT DOWN TO HADES
1COR.15:55---O HADES, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY
GEHENNA, THE SECOND HELL
The second term in New Testament means the place of fiery destruction of the wicked.
MATT.5:22--...BE IN DANGER OF HELL FIRE
MATT.10:28--TO DESTROY BOTH BODY AND SOUL IN HELL
TARTAROO, THE THIRD HELL
This third term is only used once and refers to the place of restraint where the demon spirits were placed following the rebellion against God.
2PETER 2:4---BUT CAST THEM DOWN TO HELL.
THE THREE HEAVENS
There's 3 heavens.
First Heaven = This is also called the firmament or expanse of heaven. It is the heaven where the birds fly and where the clouds give rain. (Gen.1:26; 2:20; 8:2 & 1Kings 18:45)
Second Heaven = This refers to outerspace where the sun, moon and stars can be found. (Gen.22:17 & Exodus 32:13 & Joshua 10:13)
Third Heaven = The Apostle Paul tells us that the heaven of God's abode is the "third heaven." In the Old Testament this is often designated by the phrase "the heaven of heavens." (Joshua 2:11 & Psalms 11:4 & 2Corinthians 12:2 equated with v.4 = paradise)
THERE ARE TWO KINGDOMS: ONE ON EARTH AND THE OTHER ONE COMING DOWN FROM HEAVEN.
The 1st Kingdom of Heaven =
DAN.7:27 = "AND THE KINGDOM AND DOMINION, AND THE GREATNESS OF THE KINGDOM UNDER THE WHOLE HEAVEN, SHALL BE GIVEN TO THE PEOPLE OF THE SAINTS OF THE MOST HIGH, WHOSE KINGDOM IS AN EVERLASTING KINGDOM, AND ALL DOMINION SHALL SERVE AND OBEY HIM."
REV.5:10 = "AND HAST MADE US UNTO OUR GOD KINGS AND PRIESTS: AND WE SHALL REIGN ON THE EARTH."
The 2nd kingdom of Heaven =
AFTER 1,000 YEARS = A NEW HEAVEN AND NEW EARTH-HOLY CITY COMING DOWN FROM HEAVEN = REV.21:1-4; ISAIAH 65:17-25; 66:1,22 AND ETC.
SO HERE'S WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO---
ISAIAH 66:21; ZECH.14:9-11 = "BUILD HOUSES, PLANT VINEYARDS, EAT VINEYARDS"
ISAIAH 66:23; ZECH.14:16-19 = "WORSHIP FROM ONE NEW MOON TO ANOTHER AS ONE SABBATH TO ANOTHER"
JESUS WILL BE GIVING CITIES TO THE SAINTS INWHICH THEY WILL BE TEACHING OTHERS THE TRUE MESSAGE OF THE BIBLE = MATT.25:14-23; EZEKIEL 36:10,33; LUKE 13:26; ISAIAH 61:4
WE WON'T MARRY OR BE GIVEN UNTO MARRIAGE = MATT.22:30
BOYS AND GIRLS WILL BE PLAYING IN THE STREETS = ZECHARIAH 8:4-5,8
MEEK SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH = PSALM 37:9-11; MATT.5:5; REV.5:10

Your body is a temple and it houses your soul. The body is worthless without the soul therefore the body is taken away and the soul goes to the other side (heaven). There are many levels there and you will go to the level that shows your growth from this lifetime. If you decide to continue your grown there you can if not you come back again to be born for another lesson. What is the purpose? To be more like God our creator (holy). We come here and learn valuable lessons so that we can attain a higher position in Gods kingdom (to help other souls). We can be born many times to many people.
Our soul is eternal, it never dies. It is a light of energy each different but very much alike. Those who are different than us are dark souls (show no love) and they are against Gods plan. As long as we show light and love we are one with God.
When you go to the other side you see all your pets and family and friends. They greet you with open arms. There is no hate there only Love. We study there and to Gods will. He has a plan for each of us.
Ask him what his plan is for this life?

But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection—
Revelation 20:5 plainly says that the rest of the dead will not be resurrected until the 1,000 years of peace are accomplished. The rest of the dead includes the unborn children who never had an opportunity to accept Yahweh's Way of life, as well as all of those who throughout the centuries never heard of the Name of Yahweh, along with those who were not called out in this age.
The Prophet Isayah shows that all of these people will be given their only opportunity to study the history of man, and then to either accept Yahweh's Way and receive eternal life or to accept Satan's way and die the second death in the lake of fire.
Isayah 65:20—
No longer will there be in it an infant of only a few days, nor an old man who does not fill out his life; for the child will die a hundred years old, but the sinner being one hundred years old will be accursed; burned.
The people who are resurrected in the Second Resurrection will have exactly the same opportunity that you and I have today. We must overcome for we will never be given another opportunity. They must overcome when Satan is loosed after the 1,000 years of peace. They will be given 100 years to live and study to show themselves approved and will be judged for what they do in the allotted time Yahweh will give them.
Yahweh's Judgment Of Mankind
Yahweh's Great White Throne
The Great White Throne Judgment is the time period when the rest of the dead are being judged by Yahweh. They will be judged by the same set of Laws, statutes and judgments that those in the first resurrection are being judged by.
Revelation 20:12-13—
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before Yahweh. And the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is The Book of Life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and Death and Sheol; the grave, delivered up the dead which were in them. And they were judged, every man, according to their works.

This can only be answered with a direct experience. Those who get enlightened become full of joy and no longer fear death. Read '3 Pillars of Zen' for a zen perspective. Look into 'St John of the Cross' or Meister Eckhart for a christian perspective.

I can guarantee that you will, when you die, follow this path ...
As you leave your body possibly for the last time you will meet somebody or something. It will not be anybody that you know but you will feel like you have known them forever ... you will be taken on a journey through a very bright blue expanse and in this expanse you will use the last breath of your body to continue. You are taken to a place which is also very bright and very blue.. In this place you will immediatly feel total and utter love, yet you will know no one there .. this feeling surrounds you as you enter into the afterworld, you see people that you dont know, you love them, they love you, it goes on and on .... trust me, l Know!

Your body goes the way of earth (dust or ashes). Your spirit goes to what we refer to as Heaven, where you obtain rest and peace and continued learning. There you remain until the day of resurrection, when your body is restored (in perfect condition), you are judged and assigned a place to dwell according to how you acted here, and you settle down to either enjoy eternity or rue it. Unless you are damned and cast into darkness, your eternal life will be greatly improved over this carnal and earthly life, even at heaven's lowest level.

We do not die really . We only change . Chane is he unchanging order of he universe and no one is born to change ha . her eis no stopping of this change . We and all lives on this eath and all thiings in he univere came into exisence because of this consant and incessant quality of change of the universe . From the gaeous matter , the primordial componet of enery all mater has come into existence . All maters in this universe are made of the same basic building blocks of elecronand protons . It is only because of he change in the counts of these components tha difent thngs have come innto exisence and he combinaion of the different things , differnt beings have come into existence .This chang eis still oeing one . Ou bodies are composed of different elements in various proportions . It is the bio chemical reaction , that is seen as life .Justas he inanimate things like , cooper , aluminium , some plastic , glass , some paper etc make a TV or a Radio , the combinaionof the dlemetns in various quantities are making the creatures too . Justas the elecricity that is passed through the various componetns made of the inanimate objects make the equipments and appliance work like liveing beings , he bio cheical eaction of he various elements in out bodies work with the help of he bio electricity. When we are said to be dead , the atoms in the leemens of he compounds in our bodies ae ery much active and hey are only undergoing some change . Mater never dies .maer was no created and it is unborn and so they are undying .Mater can not be destroyed bu can only be changed from one to anothere . It is he same hng hat happens to all livin creatures . he cease to exist in the same form in which ther e were while we say ha they are alive .Eveb while we ae alove , we undergo a lot of change - an irreversible change . Though every one of see it , we ail to realize ha it the natural order that is taking plaxce in us and ha we are undergoing he universal process of change , We onlyh cease to exist in the same form as we noiced ourformn to be changin wven when we are said to be alive .So there is nothing to be concerned about it as we came inno being itself by a change according to the order of the universe . The unierse itself is undergoing he chan ge and we as part of i ndergo the same change .But wedo not die at all. his is what krishna teaches o Arjuna in Bhaavad Gita.We do no o anywhre , We get into so many tings and ae recycled . Thais clled he cycles of birth and death. Emancipation is the
of no beoing recycled and made into some thing else - not being reincarnated.
We go nowhere after death . but remain in tis earth diesed into the doil to be absorbed in to so many thing s like worms , grass , plants etc and laer into such beings ha eat these stuff nd into hose who eat those creatures which ate thebegetation worms etc into which our bodily elements got absorbed . It is an incessan cycle of birth and death tha we can no avoid and we do not feel at all .It might ake anohere million yeas for humanity to understand this .

Dear Yadav, I asked for a different perspective on this question, to see what was the perception of people about their deceased loved ones.

Although, we may never know the answer to this question, it is interesting to note how we "feel" about those who we really care. I hope this helps, and in case you have any personal anecdotes, I will really appreciate it. Thank you
