It means several things to me. First of all, it's a promise of God, a covenant sealed through the redemptive blood of Christ. Therefore, because of his life (and death) story it also means a hard fought victory over cynicism and temptation. It also means love; the love of Christ and the love of the Father. This love ensures that we will love forever in a sinless utopia because we (as believers) have acknowledged the price that was paid to redeem us of our sin debt through the substitutional death of Christ.

It means nothing to me. I don't believe in eternal life in a biblical sense. What I do believe is that we return to the fabric of the cosmos upon death. Everything in existence is woven together and this giant conglomeration, as a whole, is "God", chaotic and indifferent. We reunite with this entity upon death.
