Parvo is a puppy disease. Nature will take care of the yard. Disinfect the house and all areas where the puppy had physical contact. I am sorry for your loss, I had a puppy that died of parvo, very sad to watch.

Bleach is the only thing that will kill the Parvo virus. If other dogs are vaccinated they should be OK if they come in contact with it. One thing people don't understand is that if you walk in the yard you can carry the virus on your shoe every where you go. Parvo is probably everywhere. That is why people have to get their dogs vaccinated and why puppies should not be taken away from their mother too soon. They get antibodies in the milk. People should never take their puppies to places like Petco and Petsmart until they have had all their combo shots and are fully vaccinated.
I am sorry about your lose. I voster puppies for a humane society and have lost 2 puppies to Parvo but have had a couple actually make it. Puppies from the same litter can be exposed and one will come down with it and the others won't. Its a horrible disease.
If you can't bleach your yard make sure you don't let any dog that hass not been fully vaccinated in there. Soem people say it might take up to 10 years for the Parvo to be killed by nature but no one really knows. Vaccinate, vaccinate vaccinate.

Please don't get another puppy or he will likely get the disease regardless of how you clean your house and yard. Parvo can be killed by years of direct sunlight, but even then, the parvo under the top layer of soil survives and is washed out when it rains. Parvo cases explode in number after a good, hard rain.

Bleach also kills the virus, but it's just impossible to get rid of it all since you cannot saturate everything with bleach. If you have neighbors, warn them that there's parvo in the area and encourage them to get their dogs boosted.

Any dog you consider bringing home should have a full series of vaccinations given by a licensed veterinarian. By a full series, I don't mean a bunch at once, but the same vaccinations given over and over. (at least 4 times) The dog should also be at least 2 years old to be even safer. Some people think they can go get a new puppy and vaccinate it on the way home. This is not correct because vaccinations take time to stimulate the body to start building immunity.

Bleach dilute on everything possible, Lysol what can't be bleached. Your Yard and plants are going to take a 6mo. to a year to be considered really safe, so be sure your next dog is fully vaccinated befor bringing into this environment. Consider that many dogs get and carry Parvo and other viruses, they contaminate parks, yards, sidewalks, your shoes therefor and your carpets from your shoes. So don't let anyone tell you that you must not have another pet for a year or 6mo. because the Vets lobby, the store and everywhere has viruses present. Just inoculate your pup keep it in clean conditions and if you know an area has been used by a sick animal take all the precautions.

Parvo will linger around your house for up to three years!!! You need to Bleach everything the dog cam in contact with and where ever he or she went potty!!! That will bring your chances down but the only way to truly get rid of it is to call an exterminator and they have stuff that they spray just for parvo. Other than that you have to wait 3 years. The other dogs you have as long as they are over a year and are up to date on shots they should be ok just don't bring any puppies around the area unless you have had an exterminator come!

No nature will not take care of it you need to spray a bleach solution all over the yard to completely get rid of Parvo. Use bleach on all surfaces where puppy was when ill. Wash all blankets and toys even the food bowl. It is suggested to wait at least one year before getting another unvaccianated dog( in other words get a dog already with shots against parvo).

The only right way to clean up after having a puppy die from parvo is to clean everywhere the puppy walked, touched, layed, pooped, vomited, slept, urinated with straight bleach. If the puppy was in the yard you must drench the yard with bleach at least 4 inches deep with straight bleach in all the places where the puppy went to the bathroom or vomitted. It will kill the parvo virus but it will also kill every bit of grass or flowers. It is the only way! Parvo is also airborne. It is the courteous thing to do to inform your neighbors your puppy died of parvo and they should consider getting their animals a booster shot to prevent their animal from getting sick. Most people don't take the time to do that but I lost my puppy to parvo because my neighbor had a pet pig which died of parvo and she did not tell any of us. I found out when I went out to warn my neighbors about my loss. It was then that she told me about her pig.

As you may know Parvo is transmitted from dog to dog through their feces. Parvo can live upto 9 months in feces. The disease is not air borne but can be carried on the bottom of your shoes, or by birds. Once Parvo is there it can stay around and there is only one way to get rid of it from your yard, home, clothing and that is by BLEACH. (other soaps and cleansers are totally ineffective) Mixture of 1/3 bleach to 2/3 water. Disinfect EVERYTHING your puppy was near (clothes, yard, etc.) You can also get a disinfectant from your vet called ParvosandRocoal which is designed to treat infected areas.

BLEACH EVERYTHING. get a yard sprayer and put a bleach dilute in it and bleach every square inch of the yard. and bleach heavy so that it saturates the ground, paying special attention to the areas the puppy was in. same thing for the house, bedding etc. on carpets and such that you can't use bleach on, check with your vet, they have a cleaner they use that will kill parvo that they can order for you. hopefully your other dogs have been vaccinated on a reg basis and are older and should be ok. but don't take ANY chances. good luck and hope this helps

Clean every single inch of your house with bleach! You will also need to spray bleach over your whole yard. Good Luck
