I said to be thankful in "all things."
This means you have to be grateful for hangnails, Dick Cheney and Paris Hiltons "singing" career.

James 1:2-4 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Romans 5:3-5 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Do you learn more from suffering or when things are going smoothly and you are asleep at the wheel? God is more concerned with our character and how we can develop our character than our comfort!

All things...admittedly, not an easy thing to do, but none the less, there's something about praising the Lord even under terrible circumstances, that CHANGES our circumstances....I think that's why the apostle Paul wrote, "I have LEARNED in whatsoever state I am; therewith to be content".

in my opinion we have to thank for everything God gives to us.
Consider it like that, we go to doctors when we get sick and we go to them coz we dont know which medicine fits us the best, thats why we need them and they know better than us which is better for us. Maybe medicine's taste would be awful but it will help us in the perfect way. So God knows everything better than us and what is good for us. We sometimes think something is bad but believe me He gives the best all the time for us. So we have to thank Him for His care.
May God bless you.

Don't be thankful just accept things as they are-karma balances out the good and bad in the long run.

That's up to you, and based on either your heart, or the religion that you practice.
