I am miserable. I doubt that I am anorexic or have an eating disorder of any kind, but I am pretty sure that I have an obsession with food. I plan out my meals days in advance and worry if I am consuming too many calories. I constantly think about food and gaining weight. I am scared of any added fat, and I feel guilty if I think I've eaten too much. It's making my life pretty dismal. Is this normal?

Well, it's a good thing your concerned about your health, but this seems extreme. If your scared about any extra weight just excersise to lose it.

No it is absolutely not normal. I have struggled with Anorexia for the past 12 years and at different degrees. I hate to tell you but you are demonstrating some of the most classic signs of an eating disorder. All people that suffer from an eating disorder think they are in control and they are not really. It takes over your life, never gives you a moments peace and goes everywhere with you. When it becomes that big apart of you life it becomes a serious problem and only gets worse and stronger as time goes on. I would not wish it on my worse enemy, because it does not just go away. One of the hardest things is recognizing there is a problem and accepting it. The longer you go with out help the more miserable life will become and the moreit will consume you. Please consider getting help. I wish every day I had not waited so long.

Depends what you mean by normal. =) Zillions of people seem to do it for some period of their life. It's about body image. I did. But I wouldn't say it's healthy or good. If it hasn't been going on for, like, 7 years or something, you'll probably just stop after a while because the bad things from obsessing are worse than the bad things from eating too many calories. There are so many better things to think about, ways to use your creativity ... I bet you'll snap out of it.
