Hello:
I should tell you that if I get married to my current boyfriend, which is not even something we are talking about, I already know which song I would like to be playing during our first dance, and here's why.
My boyfriend and I have been friends since the 7th grade, and we had always been just friends. One of the things we had in common was a love of music, particularly Jack Johnson. We found out he was going to be playing and outdoor concert only a few hours from where we lived, so we spent weeks trying to get together a group of friends to go. Eventually it got to be a few weeks before the show, and no one else could go. So he told me that he really wanted to go to the concert, but if I didn't want to go anymore he understood.
I laughed and just said that I really wanted to go anyways, and that it didn't matter who else came. So on the day of the concert it was just us, and even got to be in the second row. It was so amazing. My favorite Jack Johnson song is "Better Together". Jack Johnson played for HOURS, and then he played 7 encore songs. At this point I honestly did not think he was going to play my favorite song. Finally the last song he played was "Better Together", and as he startd playing it my now boyfriend grabbed my waist and started dancing with me.
It was just so perfect. We did not start dating immediately, but within a few weeks we both decided that we wanted to give dating a try. And three years later, I'd say we've been pretty successful.
As strange as this may sound, but it just seemed like being at that concert and listening to that music together opened us up to how we really felt about each other. And hey it makes sense that our first dance at our wedding would be to the same song that was truly our first dance together.
I'd suggest picking a time or a song that means something to you. If you can't think of one, listen to songs together and decide.
I hope your wedding is everything you hope for, and good luck with finding the perfect song!

Apparently the most popular "modern" tracks include Will Young's Evergreen and Robbie William's "Angels".
You could go and be a bit different, if say you or your partner have a particular interest or hobby that everyone knows about ie choose a song with the hobby name in the title (I once read about some skydivers danced on R.kelly's I believe I can fly - see the link!?!).
Let us know what you choose

You and your fiancé may not want to dance to this song but it would be a great gift to your parents. Go to fairplaymusicalgifts.com and you can download a song called For the Parents of the Bride for free or you can contact them and buy the CD with a personalized cover for about $15.00 Just a thought!

first of all, take a dance lesson! NOTHING is more boring than watching the first dance and all they do is move back and forth...god save that **** for later!
then find a classic, like "lady in red", or "lady love by lou rawls"...there are many great songs! The secret is getting the dance down.

You should pick something that is special to you and him. A song that you heard when you first met or a song that both of you like? It does not matter what song it is as long as it has a special memory for the both of you. Me and my husband just got married on the 18th of November and we chose "My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw. Good Luck and Congratulations!

Something that means something to both of you. If you go to theknot.com there's a link you can check out music, and there's a whole list of songs, both traditional and modern, that are suggestions for a couple's first dance together. But they are just that, suggestions. Pick a song that you both enjoy, because it will become "your song." Congratulations and best of luck to you both!

It depends on the type of people you and your soon to be husband are.....In Germany it is tradition to play the Waltz for the first dance.
