Anions don't help you get straight hair. Anions are supposed to smooth out the surface of hair, make it more manageable and free of fly-aways, by neutralizing the build up of excess positive charge (hair has a tendency to accumulate positive charge and get staticy). The manufacturers these days also claim that those tourmaline appliances help retain moisture in the hair and make heat styling less damaging. Don't really know how true this is.
