Unless you live in Dubai or Saudi Arabia or similar places, where they got more money than sense (and have wide open roads) a fast car is a death trap for teenagers.
Let's just say "fastest street car under 50K", I'll have to say the Corvette, but the Z06 model costs over 50K. So the next thing down... probably the new Mustang GT with a few mods, or a tweaked Subaru Impreza STi.

Used GT or Cobra mustang or a used Z-06 Corvette. Or in case you pick new, try the GT mustang, I doubt 50 grand could purchase a Shelby GT500 as there's a waiting record and a healthful 2d decal (broking markup). As for XYZ's answer...There s greater to life than gasoline milage! :)

i think you can still buy an old v.w.pretty cheap /// take it from me you don't want to buy that fast car for a youngster when i turned 16 i built a Plymouth duster with a big block 4 spd it would turn 10seconds in the quarter mile pull the wheels off the ground and sounded down right awesome and i thought i was king until i found out that oak trees don't yield the right of way i almost killed myself in that crash glad it was a tree and not another vehicle point being don't even think about it

Wishingstar is in reality a 16 year old who had noting better to do than ask stupid questions.
The fasest legal car for your newly licensed is an 85 Ford escort. anything faster than that for a 16 year old should be illegal, go ahead and send me the 50K I'll set him up with a fine car!
But if you want to kill your kid go get him a rare one like a Pantera

A gun would be much cheaper. If this is a serious question, you need to put your "parent" hat back on and get your head out of your A$$.
