it seems that the list goes on and on,what is the difference of dvd,dvd-r dvd+r,dvd+rw , cd, and on and on seems there are as many variations as there are keys on my keyboard..can someone give me a quik lesson also, i have movies i would like to burn but get a message that file is to large, what can i do and how do i do it

fist let me just say movies should be burn on dvd's because of the capacity on a dvd, put about 1movie per dvd, now for the list.:
check at the source...right on the page look at you right, and on optical media types there is all the types of dvd there is, giving a good if not great example, and uses for each

in a nutshell, a dvd(or CD) can only be read you can't write to them.

dvd-r and dvd+r are two different standards for dvds that you can write to only once.

dvd-rw and dvd+rw are two different standards for dvds that you can rewrite to multiple times.

same applies to CD's

Check the specs of your computer to see which standards it supports.

Now DVD's hold alot more data than CD's so you will want to use DVD
