The above post is right. By giving your time and helping others you will help yourself. This is a great cure for shyness and low self esteem. Trust me, I tried it and helping others is one of the greatest gifts I ever recived. You learn so much about yourself and others.

Stop living for yourself and start living for the Father and realize that he made you in his image.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness,

I will pray for you.

Here is an article that may help.

Get into the Psalms...great verses in there. But I truly believe that once you stop focusing on yourself and start DOING for God and for others...that you will have a MUCH higher sense of self esteem. The enemy wants us to be stagnant for God and will use whatever means necessary to get us that way....You were important enough for the Lord of Glory to DIE for, HE thinks your pretty important! That should count!

There are a number of verses which help with self-esteem. In fact, I think you are to be commended for realizing just how lowly each of us is by himself. For example:
Psalms 14:1  The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
2  The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
3  They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Thus when we feel without self esteem, it is understandable. However, God never intended us to wallow in our hopelessness and so he provides a wonderful message:
Romans 5:7-8 "For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Also,
John 15:13  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14  Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 15  Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
I add:
Isaiah 51:6  Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

I submit that it is a natural thing to lack in self esteem because it is at this point that we may truly see our lack of self worth except through the Lord. David writes Psalms which often show his deep discouragement and yet his offering himself to God is the act of the one who will overcome his sadness with God's help.

Lastly, Isaiah 54:11  O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.
12  And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.
13  And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
Amen

No, but the Bible is concerned with our self esteem though. It is not concerned that we increase it but that we already have too much!

From Genesis to Revelation, there is not one single good thing said about the nature of mankind. This is not unkind. It is True. We are totally depraved and we love only ourselves. The Bible exposes our "self esteem" and calls us to trade it for "Christ esteem".

This is one of the reasons why true Biblical doctrine is so unpopular. Who wants to be told that they are wicked? Nonetheless, it is the truth to those who "have ears to hear".

A couple examples:

Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. - Genesis 6:5

as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE." "THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE, WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING," "THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS"; "WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS"; "THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD, DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS, AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN." "THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES." - Romans 3:10-18

P.S. Jesus did not die because His people were "worth it". He died because our sins are so vile that He had to pay the price.

I found it was very helpful to my low self-esteem to stop caring what the Bible says. Now I use it as kindling.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God

He knit you together in your mother's womb - unique and wondeful, like no other.
