Have slow cooker will satisfy!!! I love using my slow cooker. It always makes more than enough food for our family of 7. I always have leftovers that I freeze for the little onesbecause some meals they don't want to eat.
Beef Stew
INGREDIENTS
3 pounds cubed beef stew meat
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup baby carrots
4 large potatoes, cubed
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 cups boiling water
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
3 tablespoons butter
3 onions, sliced
1/4 cup red wine
1/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
DIRECTIONS
Place meat in a large plastic bag. Combine 1/4 cup flour with 1/2 teaspoon salt; pour into the bag with the meat, and shake to coat.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add stew meat, and cook until evenly browned on the outside. Transfer to a slow cooker along with the carrots, potatoes, parsley, and pepper. In a small bowl, stir together 2 cups of boiling water and dry soup mix; pour into the slow cooker.
In the same skillet, melt butter and saute onions until softened; remove to the slow cooker. Pour red wine into the skillet, and stir to loosen browned bits of food on the bottom. Remove from heat, and pour into the slow cooker.
Cover, and cook on High for 30 minutes. Reduce heat to Low, and cook for 6 hours, or until meat is fork tender. In a small bowl or cup, mix together 2 tablespoons flour with 1/4 cup warm water. Stir into stew, and cook uncovered for 15 minutes, or until thickened.

2 cups frozen green beans
1 (46 fluid ounce) bottle tomato-vegetable juice cocktail
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS
In a large pot over medium heat, cook beef, onion and potatoes, covered, until beef is no longer pink and potatoes are tender, 10 to 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, place carrots and 1/2 cup water in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high 5 minutes, until tender.
Drain beef mixture and return to pot with carrots, corn, green beans, juice cocktail, water, salt and pepper. Simmer over low heat 30 minutes, until flavors are well blended and soup is hot.

I usually make an apple crisp... loads of apples with a simple crisp topping. But why not make something surprising and fabulous and chocolatey... like brownies? Serve with them warm with coffee after the big meal...and make every ooh and ahh! (make sure to have vanilla ice cream and cold milk handy too) Triple Chocolate Brownies Recipe courtesy Nigella Lawson Show: Food Network Specials, Episode: All Star Chocolate Ingredients 3 sticks plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter 12 ounces best-quality bittersweet chocolate 6 eggs 1 3/4 cups superfine sugar 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup white chocolate buttons, chips, or morsels 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate buttons, chips or morsels Approximately 2 teaspoons confectioners' sugar, for garnish Special equipment: Baking tin (approximately 11 1/4 inches by 9 inches by 2 inches), sides and base lined with baking parchment. Directions Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Melt the butter and dark chocolate together in a large heavy based pan over a low heat. In a bowl or large measuring jug, beat the eggs together with the superfine sugar and vanilla extract. Allow the chocolate mixture to cool a little, then add the egg and sugar mixture and beat well. Fold in the flour and salt. Then stir in the white chocolate buttons or chips, and the semisweet chocolate buttons or chips. Beat to combine then scrape and pour the brownie mixture into the prepared tin. Bake for about 25 minutes. You can see when the brownies are ready because the top dries to a slightly paler brown speckle, while the middle remains dark, dense and gooey. Even with such a big batch you do need to keep checking on it: the difference between gooey brownies and dry ones is only a few minutes. Remember, too, that they will continue to cook as they cool. To serve, cut into squares while still warm and pile up on a large plate, sprinkling with confectioners' sugar pushed with a teaspoon through a small sieve.

My personal favorites are Chicken and dumplings and also Taco Salad. Both are quick and easy. The recipe for Chicken and Dumplings is on the back of Bisquick boxes and require only the Bisquick, water or milk and chicken, although I add some canned chicken broth both for flavor and so the mixture will not stick to the bottom of the pan when cooking as the sauce tends to thicken a-lot.
Taco salad you can play with and add as few or as many ingredients as you like. Base ingredients are:
Salad mix (bagged) or lettuce
Onion (optional)
Hamburger (amount as per preference)
Sour Cream
Shredded Cheese or melted Velveeta
Tortilla Chips (broken up)
Tomatoes
Suggested inclusions:
Habiniaro or jalepinio peppers
Salsa or Con Queso sauce
Cucumber
Carrots
Red, yellow, green and orange peppers (some are sweet and some are strong) gives a nice flavor contrast.
Grated Parmesan cheese
You can add or not add any one of a ton of ingredients as per your own tastes.
Have fun!

One of my son's and mine favorite meals is : Chicken & barley!!
Holycrap batman it is soooooooooo good !
Cook a couple cups of barley, drain, rinse, return to kettle and add 1 -1/2 cups water with some chicken soup base (amount YOU desire for flavor) add 1/4 cup of chopped garlic, 1 large onion diced small and pepper. bring to boil for 5 minutes, stirring. add some cooked chicken (or raw chick. and cook with the boiling barley for 5 min.) remove from heat and add 2 T. chopped fresh cilantro and 1 cup frozen peas. Stir and serve. If you want this to be more soupy just add more water and more chicken base to your flavor liking. We like it like a casserole / hotdish.
We are actually addicted to this... I make it every week, a large amount that we eat off for days... the left overs even get better !!
