The list of things to avoid looks very long -- but this list contains all the most "common" names and products that contain gluten. As always, check the label. If a product says "gluten free" on the label, you are usually safe.

Here goes!

Alcohol (derived from gluten based products such as wheat, barely, malt, rye, etc.)

Artificial Color (check with manufacturer, could contain gluten)
Artificial Flavoring (check with manufacturer as it could contain gluten)
Baking Powder (check with manufacturer, could contain gluten. Clabber Girl is gluten free.)

Blue Cheese (generally made with bread that is wheat based)
