As a Christian Pastor I will immediately say there is no wrong time to search for GOD.
I will also offer that for the vast majority of people that is when the search begins, when they are at a low point in their live.
Sadly it shouldn't be that way as GOD is relevant in the good times as well as the bad.
But then we don't seek out a Doctor until we are sick do we??

All things work together for the good of those called according to his purpose. It is not wrong to search for God in trouble. Sometimes God will allow troubles to befall you in order to get you to turn to Him. Don't misunderstand me, God does not put troubles on you. The devil does. God allows it to turn it around for your good. He longs for your friendship and He longs for your salvation. He longs for you to trust in, rely on and lean on Him for all things. I have been through many troubles in my life and ran to God for help and He is always faithful. After he freed me from my trouble I would move on and live my life and forget about Him. I believe this is why I had to keep going through bad things because eventually I said "Ok God, I'm stickin with you" Because his ways are higher than our ways, His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. His way is always the best. And of course, I had to repent for being a friend that no friend would want. Don't make the same mistake I did. Form that solid relationship during your troubles and stick with Him. He will never let you down!

He wants you to cry out to him when you are in need. He wants you to depend and trust in him. Many trials and troubles are meant to draw you closer to the Father.
There is no cop out when it comes to God. The cop out would be to not look to him in your time of trouble.
Psalm 50:15 call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me."
Psalm 91:14-15 4 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
Jeremiah 29:12-13 2 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
I find great comfort in these scriptures. Even if you don't have a relationship with the Father or Yeshua you can rest in the promises above that he will hear your call if you acknowledge his name.
