They'll probably be thrown into chaos and economic instability. That's why Dubai is building its enormous city - so it becomes a center of tourism and business.

The better question is - "How will the rest of us feed ourselves after peak oil?"

Farmers use machines that run on oil to plant, and harvest. Fertilizer is made from natural gas (Methane from the ground). Trucks running on oil products ship the food around the country (whichever country you're in, but I'm mainly talking about the US since that is where I am/what I know). People drive their oil burning cars to buy the food.

So to recap - farming, processing, and distribution are highly dependent on oil.

Here is another question - do the OPEC nations import grain?

the oil wells are suddenly running dry, 10 years and supply will be unable to meet demand, see peak oil and Hubbards curve.

10 years is sudden in civilisation/human paradigms and global politics, and a bilnk of an eye in geological terms.
This was highlighted by the club of rome "limits to growth" report 30-40 years ago and nothing has been done to replace our dependence on non-renewable resources.

Countries like Dubai have invested their oil revenues in land & property portfolios in the worlds major cities, as well as developing very expensive sites of their own for rich celebraties.

The UK & US oil production is already in decline, and they are surviving by going into debt to finance their denial of the reality that the world is finite. Most of their oil revenues went to the global corporation to pay for large saleries/share dividends, government support and media confusion so we all carry on addictivly consuming what they push, whithout considering the consequences

Given the political instability most of them enjoy today, I'd imagine that they would collapse into a third-world state. I don't know how many people in such countries would be prepared to return to whatever means of subsitence was employed before oil became such a hot item.

Oil is created when large amounts of organic matter seeps through the soil and gets compressed for eons.

So, the oil nations are already replenishing the deposits with human blood, which is organic matter. This blood comes mainly from women who dared to smile, or a man whose beard has failed to grow. There are some who offer to make their share and attach bombs to their own bodies (I guess this helps blood molecules to spread evenly) and get others to share their blood at the same time. Some of this blood is of foreign origin, mainly American GI's blood.
