We'll have to wait and see. It was supposed to expire for 2006, but there is legislation before Congress to extend it. Currently, the Schedule A available at irs.gov does not include a line for it. That does not mean that it is final.

The last few years, if you itemized, you had a choice of deducting state and local income taxes, or sales tax, whichever was higher. That is no longer in effect for the 2006 tax year, but could end up extended.
