If you need a scriptural quote that relates to your question, the best one, in my opinion is:
"God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (Jn 3:16).
In Greek, there are 3 words which are translated as "love". They are eros, philos, and agape. They mean "erotic", "brotherly" and "sacrificial" This last meaning is the one that is used in the scripture for the love of God in Christ.

Hi Carl good question, if you look at who Jesus was/is then you would have to sat yes to this question for two reasons, the first one being that as the Son, He loved the Fathers will and it was the Fathers will that we be saved, secondly Jesus loved us with a heart that burned as fire and gladly gave up His life for us, so yes Jesus died not so much from love but for love of us and out of love for His Fathers will.
