Don't know about lemons but salt will help you when it's hot out. The sodium will help your body absorb fluid into your system, electrolytes(sodium, potassium and calcium) are also important in maintaining electrical impulses across nerves, which will help reduce cramping. Gatorade, and other sports drinks contain electrolytes. Electrolytes are good, use them!

Salt helped me when I was training in really hot weather and started to cramp. I started to take salt cubes or a shaker to practice with me, I never did the lemon thing, I did bananas and sugar cubes.
