yes, the church needs to pay it's utility bill and the pastor needs a large new car, and of course a big house, and of course doesn't pay any taxes, oh, and he needs a bigger church to compete with the pastor down the street even though the one he has is adequate. pass the basket. it's ok, as long as he doesn't "love" all this money.

aCTUALLY IT IS THE LOVE OF MONEY THAT IS AT THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL, BUT BENEATH THAT HOLDING IT UP IS PRIDE

Churches just help you be sure you do not love money so much you will not give some away.

It is not the collection that is wrong it is the way they spend it. EXAMPLE: CHILDREN DIE EVERYDAY BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO SOURCE OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER. hOW CAN ANY cHRISTIAN GROUP JUSTIFY BUILDING A CHURCH (WHEN MEETING IN HOMES WORKS FINE) BEFORE THIS PROBLEM IS CONQUERED.

The whole abortion problem can be laid at the feet of misplaced prioritys regarding how we spend money of the church. There would have been no abortion problem had there not been unwanted children. Seems to me children not being unwanted is a problem that with the help of people and church money could have been solved.

Money is not the root of all evil. Read this passage Carefully.
1 Timothy 6:10 -For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
God bless you

The Bible does not say that money is the root of all evil. It says that the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Money in and of itself is a necessity for living, but when people make money the driving force in their lives, it gets to be a problem. It's ok to make money to live, but just don't live to make money.

But actually, I think your question was more of an attempt to slam churches than it was to seek information. I'm sorry if I didn't play along.

Real Christian churches use as little money as is possible to complete their ministry and provide their services. My pastor has a masters degree. He has many years of experience in service to God. With all his education and experience he still makes less that $40,000 a year. It's not a business that you get rich working in. Oh and Money isn't the root of all evil the Love of money is... Jim

They need it at the moment to pay off the billions of Euros bill for compensation claims to the victims of clerical sexual abuse of children in their care over the last 50 years that still go unpunished having been swept under the carpet by the hierarchy and ignored by the police and politicians
Hopefully they will never repeat the mistakes of past evils

The verse actually says that "the love of money is the root of all evil", not money itsself.

But... great question. Unfortunately many churches are a business more than a place of spirituality.

Ur question reminds me during Dark Age in Europe while Islam civilization is at the height of glory through Umayyad Dynasty in Cordoba, Spain.

That's make sense... Those churches make money by selling "letters of indulgences"

"the love of money is the root of all evil"--That is why those churches that keep asking for it will be destroyed. God's chosen people are supported by him and do not even need to pass a plate. God puts it in their hearts to give and they give and there is always enough.
