Yes and you will pay on landing at the Cairo airport. Cost is not high and you get some pretty cool stamps in your passport. Their paper money is quite spectacular too.

Watch out for the street hawkers. They're VERY persistant.

You need a visa because Egypt is another country even when you are living in Cyprus.

Check Egypt's embassy web site. They say that UK nationals require a visa before travel. I'm sure you can get one in Cyprus.

Last time I was there though, I got one upon arrival.
