If they arrest you or see some contraband "in plain site" they can search the vehicle.
If they just pull you over, they can ask, and you can say no.
They can make you wait for a K-9 or they can detain you until they get a court order.
*But if you have nothing contraband in the vehicle, and tell them no - then they will be very suspicious of you.

if the driver nor other passengers are arrested, the as stated above they can ask you to search your car, you of course can say know, then the police can either let you and your car go, or they can hold your car, until they get a judge to issue a search warrant but the driver and passenger will be free to walk away, if they can not get a judge to issue a warrant then they can not search the car

You do not have to let them search if they ask. However. If they have probable cause to search the vehicle they can impound it, obtain a search warrant and then search.
If they ask and you consent, then anything they find can be used in court.

They can't search if you refuse...but they can do visual search from the outside to see if anything suspicious is visual...if there is then they can do a complete interior search.....they can also do a search of the vehicle if you have something illegal on you.
But of course the judge will believe the cops more than you.

They can't search your car without a warrant unless you give them permission or probable cause.
