As a bartender I pour by ounces. I also know 6 different recipes for sex on the beach. Depending on which recipe you are using and which county/state you are in, each will have an impact on how much alcohol is in the beverage. In a bar where they measure the shots it will probably have about 2 or 3 ounces. I cannot guarantee this though.

As far as the legal limit for you, do you mean; A) legal to be in public B) legal to drive C) legal to remain in the bar/restaurant in which you are drinking?

There are several factors which come into play regarding the legalities and how quickly your body metabolizes the alcohol. For instance:

What are the laws in your county/state?
What is your weight?
Have you eaten before drinking?
Do you drink regularly or just occasionally?
Are you diabetic or on any medication? (even over-the-counter)

Most people that I encounter are physically okay and show little or no symptoms after one or two drinks. This is not a guideline, just my personal experience.

I'd like to extend this note to everyone during the holiday season- DON"T BE THE NEXT STATISTIC. PLEASE GET A CAB IF YOU FEEL THE LEAST BIT INTOXICATED!!

In the meantime, enjoy your Sex On The Beach!

You think that the limit is different for men vrs women? What is wrong with you... The answer to the first part of the question will depend on who is pouring and if you have the same attitude toward your woman bartender that you have displayed here in your question.

I put 6 units in cos we make it in a jug. Legally you can drink as many units as you can handle although if you're planning on driving anymore than 2 is too much for most people.

The general rule is that most cocktails will use 50ml of alcohol - they do vary slightly though, for eg a margarits uses 62.5ml.
