It depends on what area of life you are talking about. In someways the women are held in very high regard because it is taught that women know Torah by nature, while men are lesser creatures that need to study Torah in order to learn it. So for woman that want to study (see the movie Yentel for example) things may not be so easy. For the boy who doesn't want to study this may not be male favoritism either.

In the case of inheritance the halachah is that the father can only leave inheritance to his sons and not to his daughters. But as a result that means the daughters get a trust fund that is set up "now" while the boys have to wait until the father dies in order to get anything. So what seems like a disadvantage may actually be an advantage for the girls, they can tap into the trust fund when they reach the appropriate age.

Likewise during Nidah (the monthly feminine cycle) women are not allowed to touch men, food for men, etc. Is that a disadvantage? The men have to do the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning, etc during that time. Women get a vacation every month. Again, this is a disadvantage for the men.

I can't say for certain, but I know that in ultra-Orthodox Judaism, women have to shave their heads and wear wigs to look less attractive to other men. One of my aunts had an ex-husband who tried to make her do that. He's now living in Israel with his new wife and their five children.

i would say yes because there are so many rules about what women can't do in an orthodox jewish church.

now there are women rabbis but not in the more orthodox situations.
