tell him that it's for emergency situations, like you got in a car wreck or kidnapped or something. then slip in that while you have it you might as well talk to friends.

Tell him you want to pay for it yourself. See if there is anything you can do to earn money (about $40 should do it). find a "pay as you go" phone for about $20, and buy another $20 worth of extra minutes. Now show him how wise you can be with the minutes you have.

Well... Sounds like you really dont need one, if you cant get any good reasons by yourself. You are 13 years old, i really cant think of a reason for a girl of your age to have one! Dont get a cellphone untill you can pay your own costs.

Your safety is a very valid reason! I read a story about a young lad that was abducted. He used his cell phone to call his dad. He was rescued!! Use it, it's real!!!

me personally...but if you can't think of good reason then you really don't need one. sounds more like you are trying to be like everyone else.
if you get an allowance, save up and buy a prepaid cell phone....of course AFTER you talk to your dad...at least that way you are paying for it and not him

Try explaining to your Dad, that the reason that he should get you a cell phone is SO HE CAN KEEP TABS ON YOU meaning stay in touch all the time to find out where you are or what you are up to !

i just got my first cell this august!!! i'm 14 so i kno wut u mean!!! i put myself into alot of situations where i'd need a cell to call my parents. (deciding on staying after school for 'tutoring', going to a friends house after school, getting 'lost' at the mall) and of course i would ask for one once in a while. they eventually gave in. but dont let it get you in trouble!! i've already gotten mine taken away twice! lol. im about to get it back. lmao
