It doesn't seem like there is any uniformity at all between the IBF, WBA, WBO, etc. Sometimes some ranked contenders aren't even listed under different organizations?

It's all about two things, money and politics of boxing, mostly money. If you can remember a few years back when Tyson fought Peter McNeely, McNeely went from a complete unknown to being rated number eight by the WBC thanks to Don Kings good friend and President of the WBC Jose' Suliman.

There is no single body that is protected from greed and influence of others, even when you have a Champion who unifies the titles among the three majoring bodies WBC, WBA, IBF the WBO and USBA will still recognize someone else as Champion in the very same weight class.

Complete and totally disgusting!

There isn't because of money for one and the WBO is a second rate third class organization now anyway. The IBF is the dominant one and the world champion is the actual holder of that belt. The IBF dictates the bouts and doesn't like anyone else especially Don King to interfer in their affairs.

OBVIOUSLY BECAUSE THEY'RE DIFFERENT. EACH ORGANIZATION HAVE THEIR OWN POLICIES AND OR WILL SUPPORT CERTAIN FIGHTERS MORE THAN OTHERS. FOR INSTANCE IF DE LA HOYA IS RANKED #1 BY WBO THE IBF HAS TO COME WITH A DIFFERENT ONE THAT THEY THINK IS BETTER THAN DE LA HOYA.
ALL THIS ORGANIZATIONS HAVE TO CLAIM THAT THEY EACH HAVE THE BEST FIGHTERS
