I think it is not a doctrine, belief, dogma or rules and regulations of God... that priest should not marry, it is more on principle of SELF-SACRIFICE for God.
A self sacrifice depends on how strong you can do or offer it to God. If weak personality...you better marry. There are those (even not priest) have very strong will of sacrifice (the worldly pleasure)...they`ll succeed if they want to.
So, don`t speak for them...let them do what they want.
Each of us is reponsible to what we`re doing.

Yes, lets all keep scaring little children into believing all priests are monsters.
Forget about the stats on Protestant ministers who have it worse, lets just stay focused on the Catholic Church.
School teachers are 100 X worse? so what. Lets burn some more crosses on the net and 'get the evil Catholic church'. it makes me sick.
Most of the scandals involved consenting teens with greedy lawyers?? so what, we don't want to upset the homosexual community, so lets focus on the minority of the abuse cases that were children.
The Catholic Church is spending money on research to stop these atrocities? So what, we have the Boston scandals to wave around for another 1000 years and we will never tire of it.
I think the real issue is the pedophiles who are obsessed with attacking the Catholic Church, who, BTW, is doing her laundry. Not like your own schools where your kids go.

Originally under the auspices of the Roman Empire Catholic priest could marry. It wasn't until after the Empire faded that Catholicism took an ugly pro-male anti-female turn, which included the illogical notion of celibacy for the priesthood.

It only makes sense to me. If the institution of the family is so important, and multiplying and replenishing the earth was important from the beginning, then why should they not partake of this. I also don't think one can achieve full happiness without children.
Additionally, if they could get married, the priesthood would no longer be a refuge for those who want to repress gay tendancies.

Priests of other Christian denominations are allowed to marry. I don't see why Catholic priests shouldn't be able to marry whomever they like.

They are human too, who may have sexual desire.
It is better they get married, instead of doing anything secretly.
