Can I take fosamax plus even though I have mild asthma and early stages of COPD. Since there is some second affect about laying down with this drug? I thought I would start it 400 iu a week. Anybody out there medical can tell me? I do have 20% reduction in bone mass in left hip. I live in Mexico so thought I would just purchase it myself. Can do here without prescription. Doctors speak spanish and will give you anything really but I would like a wise advice on this. Don't want to have breathing problems. Thanks alot for your help.

You need to find out why you have a reduced bone mass, things like do you have TB or something.

Fosamax and other drugs like it have been known to cause the bones to rot, especially the jaw.

So if you get unexplained jaw pain, that should be a concern.

You take drugs like this on an empty stomach with water, and be sure to wash it down well with water since if it stays in the esophagous it tends to burn it.

The calcuim and magnesium in food keeps it from being absorbed.

I myself would not take drugs of this type.
