Yes, I would share. It would make me feel good to share. I would probably invest some of it too so I could make more to share as well.

It would depend on how much I won. If it were just one million dollars I would first of all purchase a home which in my city calgary is average of four hundred and fifty thousand dollars almost citywide, and then id buy a car, and put 100 000k into a trust fund for my daughter and then id pay off my mother mortgage of 100 000 then i would take a family vacation and spend 10 000 at the very most. Then I would put the rest into savings. So no I would not share to much of it.
Now if I won about 5 million I would probably have more to play with but instead of just those things I listed I would start up my own business and then also donate some to a charity like the childrens hospital would probably be where id donate like 50-100-150k.

I'd keep the lion share myself. I'd be generous with my family and and charitable organizations. I would consider tithing 10 percent to worthy causes. I don't have any friends that are really hard up now, so I see no reason to give them cash. However I would do things like give them nice gifts for Christmas, treat everyone for meals and things like that. I'd probably treat some friends to a trip or too. Frankly, my concern would to wisely invest the proceeds so that it could become a sustainable source of income for me. Many lottery winners blow all their money and then after a few years are really not any better than they were beforehand.

To the guy who said he'd make it so if he won, it would be kept quiet so nobody would know he'd won, it doesn't work that way... Lottery companies, casinos, etc. only gain by giving away huge sums of money because they hold you up as a celebrity and widely publicize exactly how much you've won. You are turned into their advertizement to sucker more customers in. There's no way they will give you the money until you sign a contract saying they can use photos of you and your full name in promotional material for X number of months (usually a year). Its all written in the fine print on the back of your ticket.
As for what I would do with a large jackpot, I'd use it as seed money to get my business plan off the ground. Use money to make more money... that's the only idea that makes any sense. When I've doubled my money, I'd certainly turn my attentions toward more philanthropy but not before my profit stream to replace the money I give away is secured. If you just give it away, its gone for good. If you've invested it, you can give it away forever and it keeps replenishing itself. People who win the lotteries are often too impatient though... they want instant gratification.

That really depends on how much it was. But for the sake of my answer, lets say it was the $25mil jackpot
I would pay off the houses of my brother, sister in law, parents, parent in laws and possibly their cars too. Then I would set up college funds for my nephews and niece and my kids. Of course I would take about $5 mil and invest it in a high interest account. Then I would give $1 mil to the local animal shelter to help them upgrade to a better facility. I would then hire a contracter to come to our house and design an extention. No I wouldn't buy a new house. I like ours, and our neighborhood, but it could stand to be bigger. Then I would buy my husband the F350 he's been wanting, and myself my mustang. I would also take all my female family on a shopping trip. I would sent the men to vegas. Then I would figure out the cost of a wedding in 15 years and put money away in a special account for my daughter's wedding. I would donate $1mil to my church as well. After that, I would see what was left, and divide it up between myself, my husband, and my kids and put them in accounts to save. My husband would keep working, I would keep being a stay home mom and that's that.

First off, as selfish as this sounds I'd take care of me first. I'd pay off my debt, get a house, and get some of the stuff that I have really needed or wanted. Also make sure the put some in a savings account or and IRA that I could live on comfortably for the rest of my life.
Next I would give some of it to my family, friends (only if they were my friends before).
Than I would choose some charities and donate some money.

If my winnings are more than 2 million dollars I will give big money to a couple of charities that I already make small contributions to. But, if I won less than that, I will help out any of my family members that deserve a hand and continue to make the small donations to my favorite charities.

I'd definitely share it. My wife and I have actually talked about this (long car ride trying to stay awake)...our extended family is so large that it would be hard to give a lot of money to all of them, so what we say we'd do is buy a big beach house somewhere and do like a timeshare thing for our family and friends and let them use it for free whenever they wanted. I'd start my own business (probably something fun like a campground) and give a bunch to charity too (probably Envision Linesville and Habitat for Humanity).

I would share with Church, charitable organizations that help with poverty issues, a reading program that teaches literacy skills, and donate some for college scholarships to poor children. To whom much is given much is expected. However, since I do not gamble this will never be a reality. However, a good thought. God bless****

I won't tell anyone about it but I will set aside certain amount to give to my family, church and charity. I won't tell them why I am giving to them, just say I can afford it. I won't give to friends, Orgs, hospitals or the police. I will take my friends out for a nice dinner but won't tell them about the lottery win.
