Mine is actually a series of verses...The Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount. I can't recall the exact verses, but I think it's like Mathew 5, 6, 7. I like it because I think it presents such a challenge and it reminds you that no matter how good you think you are, you need to try harder. Like when it says something to the effect that I've told you not to commit adultery but any time you look at a woman with lust in your eyes you're committing adultery. - - Reminds you that we are all sinners.

This is my favorite scriptural verse. I know it's probably not in your Bible, but it is in mine! It is my favorite because it shows that the Christ is everywhere.

Jesus said, "It is I who am the light over all. It is I who am the entirety: it is from me that the entirety has come, and to me that the entirety goes. Split a piece of wood: I am there. Lift a stone, and you will find me there." Logion 77 from the Gospel of Thomas

Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and perfect and acceptable will of God.

Another translation says don't fashion or shape yourself by the traditions and customs of this world, but let God change you from the inside out. Then people will know who God is and how He means for life to be.

I love this verse because it challenges the very essence of who we are - people who have become who we are because of our families, traditions, the environment we're in, etc. It challenges us to seek God and to find life the way He means for it to be for us, not the way the world means it to be.

Isaiah 36:12. I like to put Christians on the spot to justify it and see if they'll pretend it is at all edifying.

John 15:13

No greater love a man has than this that a man give up his life for his friends.

I interpret that to mean giving of yourself, be it with deeds done, kind words spoken, or putting your life on hold to raise your kids...being there for others, putting their needs ahead of yours.

And yes, in giving your life to save another if necessary. Think 9/11 and the police and firemen who entered the WTC....perfect example.

Psalm 118:5 "In my anguish I cried to the Lord and he answered by setting me free"

I like it because my first girlfriend's mom read that and converted.
