I just got the ink done yesterday. It's a very small and tiny little brown spot of discoloration. The other colors look completely normal. I am very intensive with aftercare. I'm washing the tattoo twice a day with mild soap. I wash hands carefully before I touch the tattoo. I don't understand how it could be infection since I am not being careless. It also seems unlikely to be a scab because I had two tattoos before and nothing like this every occured. After about 30 hours I applied a thin layer of Bepanthen cream. What further action should I take to remedy this situation. I am not happy if this completely ruins this incredible new religious tattoo designed by a guy with a two year college art degree. Thanks in advance for your responses.

It's a scab. DO NOT PICK IT! If you do you are going to fade the color in that area and mess up the work. Just keep putting the ointment on it and it'll be fine.

If it were me, I would consult with the tattoo artist. It's too important of a subject for guess work. 30 hours between antibaterial ointment application is not enough.
It is normal for some scabbing but the amount is considerably less when kept moist with a THIN layer of A and D ointment.

No, it is not infected only a scab. If you see redness or a yellowish seepage or crusty substance along with a warm sensation in the area that indicates an infection. When in doubt apply Neosporin or other triple antibiotic ointment.

It sounds like a scab which is completely normal on a new tattoo. Just because you haven't had one before, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Go by the shop you had it done at and show your tattooist. Ask him if there is anything that you/he/time can/will do about it.
