To the 1st Poster, Headlice Are involved in clean Hair ! What you're able to have Is somebody else to apply A Headlie Comb on your Hair. Get A Hair Clip ( Or Bobble ) And positioned All Hair Up different than for A Small area on the backside. Comb by area by area working as much as the authentic Of the top Getting All bugs And Eggs Out. Drown The Lice In A Bowl Of Water After ( can no longer Have Any Scurrying Off to hunt for somebody else ! ) . After Use A Conditioner And carry on with on your Hair, go away For a pair of Hours Then Comb by back And Wash Your Hair ( Lice can no longer Get Grip On Conditioner ) it particularly is the superb way without utilising Harsh chemical compounds. solid luck ! Headlice are getting quite resistant to a lot of the chemical remedies now. I ended up using 2 bottles and making sure i used the nit comb to get as many out as i could.
Firsy wash your hair and leave lots of conditioner in it, you should be able to comb some out this way. Then use the chemicals and after X Hours (Tells you in the instructions) comb them out again adn wash the hair and do the conditioner trick again.
If it doesn't work first time then second time should be good. You have to make sure you spend a while on the combing phase, because like i said they are getting more resistant to the chemicals.
A Last resort is to shave you head, but i can see why you don't want to do that.

i have been dealing with head lice since my daughter was 2 and started preschool the best thing i ever used her doctor prescribed it for me and it is called OVIDE(malathion lotion0.5%)
it is an 8 hour treatment but it worked.oh and my daughter is now 6. also the bedding sprays do work but i recommend washing everything that can be washed in hot water, then put in the dryer as long as u can heat is what kills them. i dont know any home remedies that work, my great grandmother said they use to use kerosene to kill lice but that was like 60 years ago. i have tried all of the ones from the local drug store and it took 3-4 kits before i would finally get a little braek then it would start all over again. hope this will help you.

Use one of those headlice combs everyday, then repeat the treatment shampoo again, repeat til the lice are gone.
Always wash the bedding, hairbrushes with the treatment stuff.
I recc 'kp24', if you can get it where you are. baby oil in the hair will make it easier for the comb to go through, and will loosen the lice's grip on the follicle.
Persistance is the best treatment. good luck

Apply OVIDE® Lotion on DRY hair in an amount sufficient to thoroughly wet the hair and scalp. Pay particular attention to the back of the head and neck. Wash hands after applying.
Allow hair to dry naturally— do not use any electric heat source, and allow hair to remain uncovered. Because this product contains alcohol to aid in its effectiveness, it is flammable.
The lotion and wet hair should not be exposed to open flames or electric heat sources, including hair dryers and electric curlers. Do not smoke while applying lotion or while hair is wet.
Shampoo the hair after 8 to 12 hours or as directed by your physician.
Rinse and use a fine-toothed (nit) comb to remove dead lice and eggs.
Further treatment is generally not necessary, but if lice are still present after 7-9 days, repeat with a second application of OVIDE® Lotion.

People have tried a lot of home remedies to get rid of lice including Mayonnaise, Oil, cutting hair, etc. The problem is that sometimes the lice or resistant or you can't get rid ("RID" is a product for lice also) of the eggs. My advice would be to retreat with an OTC product or have your MD prescribe OVIDE (kills the eggs). Then apply a mixture of oil and Vinegar and water to the scalp (loosens the egg cement) and comb through with a fine "Nit" comb. It does take a lot of effect, but if your school has a "No-nit policy, its the only way to remove /kill- eggs and lice. good luck

OK first you put olive oil all over your scalp then put a shower cap on and sleep with the oil in your head. The next morning make a paste with lemon and garlic minced up. run that through your hair like a shampoo ( lice can't stand garlic and lemon it kills them) then rinse it really good, if you have a lot of hair do it twice then go through your hair with a lice comb and repeat it the next night. then you should be lice free

The only way to get rid of nits is to wash their hair every day (ordinary stuff) when you put the conditioner on just comb through the hair with a nit comb. Do this every night untill they have gone. I also go through my childrens hair and pick out the eggs with my finger nails. Good luck.

Th eschool nurse told me to get a prescription from the doctor...Then use dog shampoo once a week. I know it sounds gross but my kids have not had lice in over two years now. She said let it set in their hair just as you would a do a dog. Think about it...if it kills ticks and fleas what it can do to lice...You can also saturate their head with baby oil to help remove nits.
