Maladaptive behavioral and psychological changes may occure, including impaired coordination, increased anxiety, the sensation of slowed time, impaired judgment, and social withdrawal. Other disturbing conditions, include delirium (confused, not knowing where you are.) cannabis -induced anxiety disorder, and cannabis-induced psychotic disorder, may develop.

Long term effects: Just like tobbacco smokers, one can develop chronic sinus inflammation, bronchial constriction, breathing difficulty and loss of lung capacity.

After years of heavy marijuana use, as with all forms of smoking, the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease increases.

Also Mens sperm count lowers. (this is in my book but I do know alot of men who smoke who also have childern.)

Women may experience delayed ovulation.

As far as paranoia I couldn't find anything in my book. Closest thing is the anxiety.

I have smoked it in the past on a regular basis. It made me feel paranoid, but I already have a slight paranoid type of personality so I believe the marijuana made me more aware of that feeling.

In the book it states that marijuana increases awareness of internal and external stimuli.

The fact that it is illegal, I think is the reason it tends to cause PARANOIA.
If pot was legal, nobody would get worried about getting into trouble for smoking a little bit of this herb which has been used for CENTURIES.
I think if you have friends, or relatives who don't toke...and you are around them when you have smoked...you may be paranoid for the simple fact that they don't do it, and probably do not want you to do it.
I started using at the ripe old age of 13.
I didn't start using it regulary until I was between 15 and 17 years old.
The paranoia I experienced from smoking pot seems as though it was always a direct feeling associated with someone who thought I shouldn't be using it.
Whether that someone was the law, a friend or a parent, family member, or loved one.
Though I feel like it helped me to feel BALANCED, or on a LEVEL/ even keel...Most people around me noticed that I was still up and down, and infact the anger, when I didn't have any, and the depression were very real.
It took me a long time to realize that probably I shouldn't smoke the elusive herb.
It doesn't mean I do not want to...but I have realized I am probably better off without it.

What are the common side effects of marijuana use?
The following are some of the common side effects of using marijuana:

Trouble remembering things
Sleepiness
Anxiety
Paranoia (feeling that people are “out to get you”)
Altered time perception
Using marijuana for a long time makes some people lose interest in school, work, relationships and other activities. It may also cause legal problems. Using marijuana can be especially dangerous in certain situations, such as when you are driving.

YES.... most people who use marijuana have some form of paranoia while others don't but for anyone with anxiety problems... Marijuana could really mess things up. I used it recreationally but I also have an anxiety disorder, I can't smoke anymore without having an allergic reaction or suffering from a panic attack. Everyone is different. Also don't listen to people who tell you it has no effects and stuff like that. All drugs no matter if they are illegal or prescribed or OTC are bad in excess.

supposedly it makes you aware of yourself, who you are, etc. some people don't like what they find out so they get paranoid, or there are things they know deep down and become aware of it, and become paranoid. I've had a couple of friends who have tried it and it has messed them up really bad...they're still kind of messed up in the head, since they've used that, they've never been the same. I feel I don't even know them at all..and we've been friends for so long.

I don't know about long term problems, but I do know that after you fire up a fat one, you may be a little paranoid. Then hungry, then sleepy.
