The true quality of a fighter is one who never gives up, never. Is able to take the strongest of punches and still remain on his feet. Always alert and relentless........ the true fighter in any age and time fought for what they believed was right and stood by it regardless of the consequences. The physical aspects are of little or no concern.

Bruce Lee said that u dont need muscles,strength,power but u must b like water because water has no shape it takes the shape of its container.So you must be flexible and learn to adjust with the situations u face.Speed is also an other important factor.Speed has higher priority than power.Whatever be your style of fighting and the belt you wear Concentration ought to be there,without which you cannot be a real fighter. "whatever be your style of fighting.You cant be a real fighter until you realise the spirit of the combat" - Bruce Lee.

READ THIS CAREFULLY:
I was a national level marial artist....and now i am banned from marial arts beacuse of the lack of anger contol...dun make the istakes i did.....follow this:
1: never remove your eyes fro your opponent.... the eyes are the windows to his every move.u'll know when u look into them wat he's gonna do next
2: speed is more important than power. the technique may not be perfect, but if the speed is right, he'll not be able to defend in time.
3: points of contact: i donot know wat style you follow, but leaving the genitials:
a. neck, b. ridge of the nose, c. behind the ears, d. base of chin, e. solar phlexis, f. floating ribs(the last two hanging ribs), g.
inner thighs, h. elbow and knee joints(for breaking into half)
4: peace of mind... never fight in anger, keep peace in your mind. anger is like a veil that shrouds the fighter in you
5. never hit a weak or disabled individual. never hit a woman and never hit a person who's down. this makes u a gentleman fighter.
(this is where i srewed up....i bashed him to oblivion after the wazari)
6: to a true fighter, pain is an obvion, and illusion. if u know a bone is broken, ignore it. every part of your body is a hardware....just switch off the software for that part(it'll take u more than marial arts to do this one;))
7: movements should be like water and wind. they should flow. you should move on the ball of your feet, this give flexibility and manuverebilty to the max.
8: know your technique. a punch comes from the shoulder, not from your elbow, a kick from your hips, not your knees.
9: daily practice. train harder.if i can beat a 6'ft 100 kilo guy today, tomorrow u may face a 7'ft 250 kilo monster.be ready.
10. attitude: keep in mind.the bigger the opponent.the more fun there is to play with him.....there are two options for a true fighter.victory or death............cause defeat is death........fight till u can't move any more.a few weeks in the hospital dun matter, but dun give up untill all is dark before your eyes(here is where i specialize)

Well, there are lots of them.
Intelligence. If fighting smart, someone who is at a physical disadvantage compared to his opponent can still win.
Adaptability. One must be able to adapt to whatever the opponent throws at them. As a swordfighter myself, I have made a point to train against several styles. And when I want to confuse my opponent, I switch hands and use my sword in my left hand, usually switching on the fly. Surprises the hell out of them normally.
Initiative. Initiative is what wins fights, not brutality, not speed, not strength. If one can keep his opponent reacting instead of acting, one can win. One must seize the moment and make it his. And if one lose the inititiative, one must come up with a plan to retake it quickly, or to turn their defensive action into an offensive sequence.
Foresight. It goes right up there with intelligence and initiative. Plan your moves, much like playing chess. Plan your strategy and several contingencies. Have a sequence of events in your mind so that the blows that will land and the ones that will give you victory are not flukes or random but the inevitable conclusion from a sequence of events.

The best quality of a fighter is for him to have the ability to beat his opponents.
Anything else that follows afterwards such as inner peace and tranquility or compassion are good side effects but they should play secondary roles to your actual skill level.

Heart.
The hunger to win.
If a fighter house this quality he will be able to endure the training to learn all the other attributes of fighting.
Heart can't be taught, it is either their or it isn't.
Heart also keeps a fighter going in the thick of the fight.

1. Ability to discern when force is necessary and when it is not;
2. Willingness to carry a fight to its conclusion, whatever that might be;
3. The ability to defuse a situation without violence if it can be defused, or Bruce Lee's art of "fighting without fighting."
4. Compassion for the weak (and the ability to avoid feeling hatred or contempt, even if someone seems to be begging for it). This one goes for all forms of weakness, including emotional and mental weakness of otherwise physically strong people. I guess this comes under the heading of "good heart."
5. Perserverance!
