a better question would be
what has man done so wrong that has led many people to blame God ?

If God does exist (and I'm guessing that you believe God does, since you asked the question so that's the view point I'm answering this question from) then I think that generally it isn't a question of what god has done wrong but what his followers have done wrong.

If you look at the history of the Christian/Catholic Church, aside from the fact that early on the leaders established rules which basically denied the women of their society any rights (in contrast to Jesus' own beliefs during his life - he largely propagated the idea that man and woman are equal), they have overthrown rival cults, incorporated other religious festivals into their own calendar (Christmas, Easter), hoarded money and built an empire by taxing their followers, persecuted non-believers (the Inquisition to name but one example) and, worst of all, taken a set of fairly good ideas and warped them into an oppressive and controlling set of rules.

Religious beliefs are never the problem. It's usually those who follow those beliefs and take them too far that are the problem and they, not God, tend to be the ones that so many people hate.

God has done nothing wrong.
Society as a whole wants instant service with the push of a button. They want drive through service with no delay and everyone wants more for working less.
People's expectations are extremely high.
God did not tell us everything was free, other than salvation.
We have to work and those who work hard are rewarded.
People ask God to perform miracles and have no faith as to what He can do for us.
To understand how God works takes time, true effort, and an unconditional faith in His work.
Many are not willing to prepare for the work because they want first rather than working towards a life long goal.
Hate may not be the appropriate meaning. People are scared of the unknown and due to upbringing they have mistrust and the easiest way out is to lash out at God because He does not answer them personally.
Personal service is not how it works.
He wrote the rules to follow and for some that is hard to do.

He has done nothing wrong. Mankind has forsaken him... yet again. Maybe this could be a pre-Rapture stage where God is letting mankind make their own choice... without interference... so that when the Rapture comes, the believers who strayed will see their mistake and turn back to God in time for his Glorious Reappearing. All we can do is pray from everyone. God Bless!

I agree with Pangel! Also, church people can be pretentious snobby holier than thous--and that's a turn off. I'm a christian and I go to church every Sunday. But I don't even like being around most church people.

They feel this way because they do not know that the lies religion tell about God are just lies not actual descriptions about God.

Many actually believe that God is the judgemental jerk that religion makes him out to be. This is not true.

Not His doing wrong, but theirs.
When you do something wrong in the family, you also hate your father.

Tommy Tommy
God is just like a parent. He gives us commands (don't steal, lie, fornication, no adultery, no obscene language or jesters, no hatred toward your fellow man), but because we're imperfect it can be difficult to not do those things and we began to feel God is holding us back from "living" (similar to what Adam & Eve did...look what happen to us as a result of their disobedience.)

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! People hate God because they love themselves to much to OBEY HIM. The devil makes SIN very tempting and desirable. He lurks about like a lion ready to devour you. God has given us everything we need if we can just resist the devil and stay true to HIM.
