Deep breathing, meditation, and Bachs Rescue Remedy...;

try some deep breathing exercises. Bach's flower remedies are good, but do not take on the day of your test as they have alcohol in them.

My driving test was a nightmare. I thought I had failed from the second I started, but passed somehow. Att he end I argued with the examiner and told him all places i thought I had failed. He just smiled and said well done. So nerves can be good too.

Good luck.

I passed first time - despite abject terror. I asked my instructor to sit in on the test! You can have anyone in the back seat as a chaperone during the test, take someone who really wants you to pass. They cannot speak but you can see them and are aware of their presence which is very calming. You can see them in your second rear-view mirror too!

Avoid kalms - they can take the edge of your awareness. Bach flowers are okay as long as they are not taken on the day. Avoid alcohol the night before your test.

Ensure that you tell the examiner to "belt up" before you move off and check that they have. Treat them like a normal passenger, if they say "turn right" repeat "turn right, okay?". Treat them like a normal passenger.

Practise your relaxation exercises between now and the test. Eat a banana with your breakfast and another one before the test to ensure you are mentally alert. If you drink tea and coffee normally - do so on the day.

Best wishes.

I have been there - but the best advise that was given was to admit to the Tester that you are extremely nervous. I found that they would ask at regular intervals if I was OK to carry on or would like to pull at side of road to take a breath. Kalms do help - but start taking them at least 2 weeks before - this way you will also be able to cram every last bit of knowledge that your instructor gives. Oh, I nearly forgot - my driving school also had the process of mock exams - done by other instructors so as to get me used to the process etc. - It did help - Good Luck - You will do fine

I feel exactly the same as you do.
I have my driving test next satrday. And every time i fail because of nerves.

Like people have suggested, Rescue Remedy helps. But avoid taking on day of test. Eat a banana 1 hour before, that will help calm you

And nice calm deep breaths, GOOD LUCK

Try the breathing excercise of breathe in for 4 seconds, hold it for 4, breathe out for 4 seconds and hold it for 4, repeate this until you feel more relaxed. Try smelling lavender oil, this also helps and on the day of your test masage some into your wrists. And try positive visualisation, shut your eyes and picture the instructure passing you the paperwork telling you have passed, keep doing this. Think positive and remember you are good enough to pass or your instructor wouldnt have put you in for it.
Good luck

Try Doctor Bach's rescue remedy really helped me when I took my driving test and when i went for interviews etc, trying some simple relaxation techniques too eg: breathing in through your nose, holding for a count of five and then slowly breathing out through your mouth, keep repeating until you feel calmer. Good luck

Think about this logically , it's just a driving test and not a life or death situation. So what if you fail you can always try again. Just do your best and think along these lines and you will pass with flying colours. If not then try again.. Simple as that !! Good luck xx

kalms do work but they take a couple of weeks to get into the system so you need to crack on

also good to know they are not addictive

dont drink coffee, eat light, dont take kalms, they make you drowsy. just take deep breaths, i just pretended it was my driving instructor and not the examiner and i soon relaxed! good luck!
