I have not done any windows updates. Most of them have to do with security. I have trend micro installed on my computor and i've heard it's not good to have more than one anti-virus's. Would doing a security update be like having two systems on my computor? The reason I ask is my computor seems to be running fine without it. on installation history it shows I have not installed any updates.

You need to do your updates because wthout then make sit easier for hackers to get in, or to get viruses, worms, trojans, some of which you wont even know you have till the damage is done. I would recommend all updates that Windows tells you that you need. You can even set the updates to run automatically if you like. Just go to Microsoft's home page and scan for updates and it will tell you what your PC needs to keep it safe and running smoothly. I wouldnt risk my system by not updating.

i would strongly recommend you download the Microsoft updates, better still accept automatic updates. the updates are not anti virus they are fixes to do with the windows operating system. you can have more than one anti virus installed.

Irrespective of whether you have an anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware or not, you should download all updates of WIndows from its site. Anti-virus, firewall and anti-spywares donot take care of security patches of Windows. If you feel uncomfortabe downloading WIndows updates from the Windows site, then, download Autopatcher for your operating system (both full version and its subsequent updates) from "http://www.autopatcher.com/downloads/" and install all windows updates till date.

windows security update patches ,are not a anti-virus update for a standalone programme, they are for your overall os security, and the updates shouldn't interfere with your current anti-virus programme.

windows updates just adds the updates of programs you run on your computer there is no harm in doing it. The problems start when you don't do it you leave yourself open for hackers.

You are leaving your computer extremely vulnerable if you don't keep it updated.

Windows critical updates close holes in your OS to PREVENT viruses before they happen. Your A-V catches viruses AFTER your computer has been attacked.

It is always easier to prevent infection, then to cure it!
