There is a company called replacements.com. You can take a picture of it and send it in for identification. Once you know the maker and name you can start searching. replacements has a lot of things, I found some things on e-bay. Good luck.

Go to ebay and type in crystal wine glass. View all the pics and see if you see one that looks like your patter then click on it. When you see it and your sure it is your kind, go to seach on ebay with tha name brand and shop. If you have never used ebay look at the sellers feedback to make sure they are a seller you can trust. Or at least you will know the brand and you can shop at places that sell fine crytal glassware.

If it is very old most libraries have quite a good selection of reference books on antiques I have been able to identify china from reference books in my library.

most wine glasses are just classed as "wine glasses" not "white wine glasses" or "red wine glasses" it sounds to me whoever was trying to sell you those glasses were just trying to sell you twice the amount than you need. i would suggest just getting one set of whichever you like the look of the best, nobody is going to say "I am not drinking white wine out of that sort of glass!"
