Vaccines give only about 80% protection, not 100%. There is still a 20% chance of getting the disease. Mumps is self- limited, lasting about 8 or 10 days. There is no specific treatment. Give paracetamol for fever and give soft food.

No new treatment for the mumps is out there. My questions is why wasn't he vaccinated for MMR aka Measles, mumps and Reubella? There is so much permanent damage that can be done by these diseases that it is foolish not to vaccinate the child.

There is a vaccine for Mumps! Why didn't your child get it? Where I live, it's the law!
