I would prefer a Bed and Breakfast at a good rate, in a safe area and maybe not so far from the DC Metro

Stay in the city, and you won't have to worry about traffic as much. Utilize the Metro subway system and the Circulator bus network in Downtown DC.

Well maybe somewhere in Crystal City. It's right outside of DC. Plus you have two metro stations. Pentagon City and i think Crystal City.

Try the Swann House Inn and the Tabard Inn. They're in Dupont Circle which is a great area. I also like the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan area which has terrific restaurants.
