Vinegar will kill the bacteria. Gargle with it. Lemon and or honey will sooth it. Also, wintergreen or peppermint can help. Did you know there is an ingredient in chocolate, that soothes a sore throat better than codeine? It's called theobromide, and you don't get much of it from a regular candy bar. But if you get some baker's chocolate, and suck on a small piece, it helps a lot!

Gargle with warm salt water, don't smoke and rest. Continue with your tylenol and take in lots of fluids. If you do not notice any improvement or the symptoms are getting worse, call your doctor.

this might sound weird but gargle about a TBL Spoon peroxide mixed with 1 cup water- don't swollow! when you spit it out, you should see this foamy stuff...that's the icky infection that's in there. to get the taste out, and further the aid your healing, drink some peppermint tea flavored with honey. Avoid dairy products, as dairy contains bacteria. great for aiding in digestion, not so great in healing an infection. good luck! Please let me know how it works, and Happy Birthday!

Powdered potash held on the tongue and allowed to dissolve is very good for sore throat when there are 'white spots' 2. Take the whites of two eggs and beat them in with two spoonfuls of white sugar; grate in a little nutmeg, and then add a pint of luke-warm water. Stir well and drink often. My grandmother used to prescribe a dose of turpentine and sugar for a sore throat. I certainly wouldn't advise it today, but there is a legitimate treatment sometimes prescribed by doctors, called turpenhydrate and codeine. Obviously the codeine part is a narcotic, but the turpenhydrate is surely a derivative of turpentine. Anyway, it tastes just as foul as the original. John E. Bowles
