Holland has recently banned the wearing of veils and the likes...........I think we should do the same in England, they've already sacked that teaching assistant who wouldn't take it off for lessons, which is a good start but I doubt it'll go much further unfortunately.

Anyone agree/have any thoughts on this??

Lets have a reasonable debate on your thoughts rather than all the do-gooders attack me for bewing racist.

Excellent question mate - I'm not racist in the slightest but if they want to live in this country they should abide by our rules and ways. It seems we are the minority these days - I'm sure the police would have something to say if I was walking down the high street with a balaclava on - the same way they'd kick off if i practiced my english ways in their country.

A friend of mine works in a call centre and they have to use a diffent name for Chrismas because the word is seen as "offensive" to foreign clients!

I do not see the problem with a veil until it becomes a one to one or a security thing. Also I do not believe that a child is best served by someone wearing a veil the same as a Muslim school would not like a girl wearing very skimpy clothing teaching their children.
My wife and I were stoned in our car because she wore sleeveless clothing in eastern Turkey. However even this country has banned the veil as has Tunisia also a Muslim country.
What about Saudi where westerners cannot travel freely and God help you if you are caught with a Christian bible. So please explain why in this country they ban pilgrims from wearing the veil.
I will tell you the only reason for anyone born in the west to insist on wearing one in an inappropriate place is to wind you up and set a new precedent
Ron you are a total a**hole that knows nothing about the Muslim religion. The veil has nothing to do with being a muslim and is not mentioned in the koran. Why do Muslim countries ban it?
By the way your country locks up people without trial for years so don't come with that freedom crap.

The reason Holland and France have banned veils is that they are secular countries. France for example had the french revolution and during which became secualar. Whereas England is still a Christain country. I am not just saying this due to percentages or statistics it is just how the country is. At no point has the country become secualar. The closest thing we have had to it was when Cromwell brought fourth revolution.
It would then mean for example that instead of being an equal state we could be percieved as being Anti-semite so we really cannot totally ban it where as Secular countries can and it is their right to do so.

Yes I do have a thought on the veils. The freedom to wear the veils, should be allowed on one day only. Halloween. Is there a similar day in the UK ? If they want to wear them inside the mosque, for religious reasons they should be put on on entering the mosque and be removed upon leaving the mosque. If anyone does not agree with the rules, they should feel free to return to the countries where the veils are worn. There is nothing racist about this, it deals with clothing and covering the face or ones identity, not with skin color or ethinicity it should be the law, and laws are to be obeyed. Just what is the problem ? There are no sand storms to contend with in the western countries. And no Greek Pastries like baklava are to be allowed under the veils, it is not sanitary.

The only thing I want to know is why you ahve put this question n theimmigration section. If this is about a reasonable debate about a religious symbol, you need to be reasonable enough to realise that there are plenty of British muslims who choose to wear the veil.
By the way, why do you personsally support the banning of veils? And in the same vein, do you think that Sikhs should stop wearing turbans, and Christiands stop wearing crosses?

I dont agree with any religon as they've all caused wars in the past and the present but I think with all the terrorist attacks etc etc women should be banned from wearing the veils. How the hell are we supposed to know who is behind the veil? It could be someone wanted for terrorism. I cant understand why these women want to wear veils. Its a mans ruling. They live in our Country so obviously want to live by our rules! All they are doing is isolating themselves from our way of life!

I think the problem begins with the fact that everyone is bending over backwards to be politically correct and forgetting about the heritage of the UK. This is supposed to be a "Christian" country and if the expression 'when in Rome do as Romans do" then surely that should apply here. If we went to a Muslim country then we have certain dress requirements with which we would comply yet that does not happen here. How do I know that one of these "hidden" people is not a terrorist with bombs strapped on their bodies? I have got to the stage where I feel that my rights as a white true Christian are constantly being violated. I find it offensive that other religious groups use "Jesus Christ" as a swear word and would take me to court if I said "Oh Buddah".
I know for a fact that many children find these black cloaked people terrifying and go as far as to cross the road to avoid them. I did the same when I was young and confronted by Nuns!

I hate the things. They look horrible. I imagine it would scare the crap out of most kids to see a teacher sat there with her face all shrouded over. Like a Halloween costume!

In the West we value face to face communication as a symbol of honesty, openness and truth. Covering the face signifies duplicity, deceit and dishonesty. Theives, robbers and bandits cover their faces, not honest people.

Just as Muslims would get offended if a Western woman wore a miniskirt in a Muslim country, so Westerners get offended by these bloody veils!

Anyway what the hell is "immodest" about showing your face? I can't get into the mindset at all.

Trouble with banning them is it will play into the hands of fanatics. But they should be treated the same as balaclavas, motorbike helmets, hoodies and the like and people wearing them should be asked to remove them in certain situations in the name of security.

You wouldnt be allowed to teach a classroom full of kids wearing a balaclava!

with a bit of luck you could end ranting long adequate to study an answer and picture approximately it. Islam forces masking of the finished woman physique of ALL women human beings previous the age of puberty. it somewhat is area of demeaning, controlling and keeping women as 2d classification voters. A veil or habit on a Catholic religious women is by no ability EVER a masking of the finished face or physique. it somewhat is often in basic terms a head masking to be an outward sign to all like a marriage ring is to maximum folk. a marriage ring says somebody is off limits as they are married to a various already. A habit on a non secular woman is the comparable different than it ability she is married to Christ and is likewise deserving of the greater admire you've adequate money a non secular individual. working example, you would be much greater careful around this holy woman mutually with your language, jokes, strikes etc out of admire. super super super difference you may desire to show out. The Catholic religious woman CHOOSES the life and the life type and has an identical opinion to the habit and all. She is by no ability pushed into it or asked to do it different than with the aid of God. The islamic woman is compelled with the aid of fellows to positioned on the masking or be crushed-finished. The Catholic woman can give up at any time and bypass back to civilian, universal lay life if she desires. there will be no beating or violence of any style. The islamic woman is caught. I even have traveled the international over and observed those customs with my very own eyes besides to my college coaching. You of course have little wisdom of what is going on previous your community. The burqha and hijab are very demeaning and proscribing for women in many countries of the international. try even driving a motor vehicle in some international places as a woman.... in case you get caught you would be charged and sentenced to a harsh punishment. we are speaking approximately being stripped of your outfits and crushed with a cane or a whip of one style or yet another. it somewhat is certainty. try even examining the information on line of places like Saudi Arabia. Sounds super like oil, money and Arabs in outstanding autos.....nicely that may not the only difficulty occurring there. try traveling as a woman and see the mess you will would desire to bypass with the aid of.

Yes we should do the same, and do it quick. If you are going to walk down the road with a balaclava on,be sure you get someone with a Burka on to walk with you. Which one of you will be told to remove your head/face covering.???
Some say on here it is for religious reasons they wear the Burka/veil. It is NOT. Its purely for modesty reasons!!

Veils just happen to pose a security threat.

If wearing red shoes posed a security threat to anyone, I would agree with banning those too.

Hoodies and other attire that mask a person's identity pose a threat and veils just happen to fall into the same category.

It REALLY has nothing to do with their religion, race or creed.

It's just a case of security. End of.
