It depends on the age of your cat, How long has your cat been sick? Has your cat been to the Vet? When your cat has regular Vet checkups and shots the Vet gets to know their patients. Cats need to see the Vet as often as dog's do, Cats need shots, Where I live it is the Law to have your cat's shots. You should let the Vet look her/him over.

I think if you are worried then take the cat to the vet or SPCA and have him checked out

Please take your cat to your vet today.
If you're on benefits call the local RSPCA; either they'll help or they'll tell you where the nearest Blue Cross or PDSA vets is. You'll need to show proof of your benefits because its means tested, and you may need ID.

well check inside his/her mouth first. the gums should appear slightly pinkish red. if they are whitish she needs to see a vet right away. moniter her eating habits and check her weight weekly. if his/her weight is going down she needs to see a vet because it is comming to winter and cats tend to eat more as it gets colder. another thing...it might not be fun but if you love her you will check her droppings for worms.
