I'm a Christian and it wouldn't offend me . So why do people worry about 'offending' others by merely saying Merry Christmas ?

Doesn't offend me at all. I like it when people wish me season's greetings of their religion. I never understood how it's different to get wished a Happy Hannakah and not be offended but wished a Merry Christmas sets people on edge. To me (a very devote RC) it's all the same. They only want to wish me a happy holiday and I wish them the same.

I have friends of many religious faiths. And I am always eager to learn more about their traditions and holidays. So no, I wouldn't be offended in the least.

I think "political correctness" has gone too far. I may not like the commercialism of Christmas. But last year, I definitely missed the cheerful "Merry Christmas" greeting coming from the cashiers at many of my favorite stores. I'm so glad it's back this year.

No, as this is also a Religious Holiday. why would or should a person be offended when another wishes them a Happy Holiday in the manner they are used to ? this would be the same as a Christian saying " Merry Christmas " to another instead of " Happy Hanukkah. " remember it is the thought that counts at least in my personal opinion.

The story of Hannukah is as much Christian history as it is Jewish. As a matter of fact, the story of Hannukah is only in the Catholic Bible -- not in the Torah.

On the other hand, celebrating the birth of Jesus cannot ever be part of Judaism. The followers of Jesus have exacted untold misery on Jews for most of Christianity's existance. The Christian Bible and the Roman Catholic Church have taught hatred of Jews for 2000 years. We find it very difficult to reciprocate with love for your leader.

I am a Christian and I agree with you, it so wouldn't offend me. The person is just trying to wish you a good greating their way. People are so selfish. Everything, even other people's words have to be exactly as they want.

It wouldn't offend me. It's wish them a happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, etc., in kind. It's a friendly gesture. I definitely wouldn't call the ACLU.

Hi, no I would not be offended but as I am not a Jew it would be of no meaning to me, it is not the feast of the birth of our Lord and certainly not Christmas, I would have to wonder though why a Jew would say such a thing to a Christian, supposing that it was a Jew of course.
