I don't think we have enough troops to constantly maintain current levels in Iraq and Afganistan. Just assume that we only have these two options: redeployment or draft. Which would you rather see?

As much as I hate to say this.... Redeployment .. Reason being is the moment we go to a draft, the Military will no longer be full of Professionals.

A draftee doesnt care about being Professional. They are only concerned with doing their time and getting out. Most troops enlist out of a higher sense of purpose. Therefore they are there of their own free will. I know that when I was in I didnt join up to go to Combat every day. (Wanted to experience it but was hoping that it would be a nice clean sterile Combat experience where no one (Friendly) would die) But that was a risk that I had to take and knew about it. Still tried to be the best soldier that I could be and be the best leader that I could be.

Technically "redeployment" refers to when the soldiers come home, so I'll go with that option any day.
Repeated deployments vs. draft? I'll acutally say draft. Don't knock it 'til you try it? I can understand a drafted 'Nam vet oposing the reinstatement of the draft, they did their time. But let's get some of the 20-30 year old weenies who bash our troops every chance they get for things they can't possibly understand themselves.

Our husband, sons and friends are gone enough as it is. There deployed for over extended amounts of times right now and half of them are so overly exhausted that there making poor decision. I am not a true fan of the draft either. But honestly everyone seems to have an opinion of what our soldiers should and should not be doing. Til everyone else can truly say they were there and fought for there country then maybe there should be a draft. If our so called political leaders would stop being so greedy over there and stop trying to fix every body elses problems. We have several things that need to be fixed right here in the US. So where are their priorities obviously not here at home.

Draft. How fast would we got out of iraq if all the senator and thier son and or grandson would have to fight in the war? With a draft it might be a fast resolution.

draft...our military is already redeploying the same troops. 2nd deployment in 2 1/2 years for my hubby. He wouldnt agree with me, but I would take his place if I could. "He would die for his country, I would die for him"

DRAFT
becuase if you want freedom, want to cry about fighting others for freedom or to protect freedom, you should be wiling to do more for it than give up some of them for security!
at least when everyone's butt is on the line, you'll see many less cowards out there crying about needing more war!

I prefer redeployment and longer deployments. The draft will only cause more problems and turmoil.

Redeployment

I've never agreed with the draft. You shouldn't be forced to join the military if you don't want to.

draft, our servicemembers need a break, this constant state of high ops temp will only cause problems in long run, i.e. safety accidents, people leaving service that might have stayed
