What's good opening line when approaching a girl?

Okay, so I've read all the stuff about being yourself etc, and thats fine as I'm usually pretty relaxed when talking to girls, BUT I saw such a cute girl on the train, had about 2 stations before i had to get off the train and she was giving me eyes, and I went blank. What, oh what, do you say to a girl in that kind of time frame? I mean, you can't really start a conversation and find her interests? How can you take it from "Hi" to asking her out in under 5 minutes?
I'd really like girls to answer this one, as they know what would do it for them.

Okay...thanks for the answers so far...but let me clarify. I probably won't see that girl again - this is the underground and you never see ANYONE again - but it was a general question as I felt disappointed that I couldn't come up with anything....and would like to know what to do next time. So, there is no second time. It has to be: what can I do in under 5 minutes to see a girl again.

Opening lines are just too cliche' and do not show us women that guys are serious enough about us. If you see a woman that you would like to ask out, do not be too eager. That is a sign of desperation and a turn-off.

Try this instead, introduce yourself and give her a simple compliment. "I couldn't help but notice your smile", something along that line is flattering and gives us the confidence to open up. We have trouble approaching men also. Or you could tell her she looks familiar and ask where she is from. If she is interested she will go into a little detail. Most women are relieved when a guy approaches them first.

I really think you should just tell her a one liner joke. It works for me. I had a guy come up to me one night and ask do I save the trees?! I know, it was a really stupid thing to say but, because it was such a weird thing to say it got me laughing and we started a conversation! He caught my attention, even though it was a ridiculous line. If you start off making a girl smile, it makes her feel good and certainly will make you feel good and sure that you can talk to her. Smiles are always a good starting sign!
