really, why bother, this place is for help and info. not top put down someone elses knowledge, who has enough intelligence to ask about what they dont know in the first place. If half of you people who are so politically correct are really that perfect.. you must have really boring 9-5's to have the time to put me down. and i'm a student before you ask what i do!!

It depends what kind fo question it is. If it's someone expressing an opinion and asking for feedback, sometimes I'll read through and people have written some really stupid things that I totally disagree with, so I have a pop at them. Can't help it. I don't seek it out and I'd say the same to anyone in person. It makes things much more interesting if not everyone agrees with each other.

A person's response is a reflection of them as a person. They may feel the need to "put down" others because some person has put them down in a similar situation. Possibly a teacher or parent made them feel inadequate.
It's also a reflection of the general coarsening of our society. There are few barriers and definitely less social stigma toward that kind of behaviour. Comedians, talk show hosts, entertainers are all acting this way.
Thirdly, the writers can remain anonymous. This allows them to be braver than if they were to be speaking in person face to face. This type of reaction is seen in the difference between how people talk on the telephone to each other versus face to face, as well.

Very good point. however, this is an open forum. And the people who do this really don't care what you have to say. They are miserable, insensitive human beings. And being rude and insulting somehow brings them pleasure. So simply do not allow the ignorance of others bother you. They will die within their ignorance. They do not know any better. We can only pray that at some point they will learn. If they knew better they would do better. God bless****

I agree! No question deserves insult. This should be a safe place to gather others knowledge with whom are willing to share, a resource for any question. This is not a battle ground for disfunctional visitors. My advice to them is to go find a chat room and take it out on someone that is open game, not ones trying to gain info, being proactive positive and productive in life.

Although there are some abusive answers to genuine questions I think you will find the majority of put downs are reserved for what are obviously people trying it on or getting their kicks from insulting behaviour they are too scared to have in public. It is a judgemental thing and sometimes some of us judge wrong.
Good question which deserves and will hopefully get some good answers

I agree, you find someone asking a question that you feel if you answer can benefit them, you take time in answering the question with the most detail possible, even researching for them, and then you get insulted and given silly answers that don't have anything to do with the question. Some of these people need to wake up.

Thanks for bringing that up.

A very good question, hon. I am sometimes hesitant to ask a question, just incase there are rude remarks and so-forth.

People have no right really to judge others on q&a; instead it is afterall a place to help others by sharing your knowledge and learning something new!!!

I agree with u 100%

Yup I know the feeling i was told today that I must eat a lot of very nasty things (use your own imagination) from someone i have never seen on line before. I Looked at some of his other answers and they are all rude and insulting. There is no need for it.

I understand your frustration, some people get a kick out of bullying and teasing therfore this makes a perfect hunting ground for them, but they are miserable souls with nothing better to do, intelligence is not shown off this way.

Well, most answers I see here are very helpful. Others are just expressing opinions. If you are finding insulting or offensive answers, just try to ignore them, and focus on the helpful ones.

Unless you're asking completely silly questions, of course, in which case you wouldn't be getting serious answers.
