What causes an itch?

I always wondered where itches come from. Just random itches. Not from bug bites or poison or stuff like that.

The feeling of itchiness can be caused by a movement of hairs or the release of a chemical (histamine) from cells under the skin.

uum............ dirt?............there's no way itch can come up w/out any reason....umm....there's ...irritation,...allergy....
