Dont have an original XP disk.(3yr old pc) Tried my newer (1 yr old) XP disk and now get the dumb error message that the product key from the label on the tower is not valid. Of course it's valid - that key came with the PC. Do you know how to get it to work? Do I need an older XP disk? Do I need to pay $200 for XP AGAIN? Now I have a PC that is worthless? What BS this is.

I suspect you are entering an OEM Key onto a non-OEM version of windows - or vice versa. This is why it will not accept the key. You do not need to buy another license. Just find the correct CD for the key you are using and install from that.
