Isn't the world male dominated in large part? So there for the answer is yes, kind of a no brainer, but I get the point. Of course it only makes sense that in a world that earlier was ruled by the strongest that the male side of things would dominate,as it is in all of nature,I'm not trying to be offensive but it's simply the truth. The only creature on Earth that has put forth a large effort to make the sexes equal is the human species, and in large part that has been to our detriment, since it keeps each sex from playing to its strengths instead forcing each to try to live lives they simply are not equipped for. I've never seen how that was a sexist point of view since it acknowledges weaknesses and strengths on both sides, but as western society deyeriorates due to our actions in this regard hopefully we will eventually figure this out once and for all.

I do think most modern religions, especially in the western world, are male dominated. There have been matriarchal religions in the past, involving goddess worship, but today, at least in so called civilized countries, these are peripheral at best. I have seen attempts by feminists to resurrect this type of worship, but it seems forced to me and not logical. I have preferred to just abandon religion all together. If you do feel the need to have a relgion, try Buddhism. There are different forms of practice and you might find a way that suits you.

My church is not male dominated, but that is not to say that my religion is not. Our minister is a female as is our choir director, pianist, and board chair. I myself am a deacon.

When I came to this church, it was a change for me. I came from a background where women were not involved except for teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. However, as soon as I walked in these doors, I felt like I was home and I felt complete. Everything felt natural.

I never used to really think about a woman's role in the church but it's different now. Everyone has the right to believe what they want and to worship as they choose, so long as we are worshipping. God knows what is in our hearts.

Male dominated, maybe, but women have a lot of power in the Catholic bible.

Easter, Mary, Rebeckah, and several other women (named and unnamed) were key figures who changed the world around them. Just because a man is at the head of the church, doesn't mean that women are concidered lower then animals to be abused and used.

Easter is one one of my favorites in the bible. She was a poor girl who rose to be queen and saved her people through her kindness and courage. She's very also in Judaism.

Look at the Virgin Mary. Though lowly born, she is among the most recognized figures in Christian religions. ANd in Islam I hear.

See, women can be powerful in a male-dominated religion. You just have to open your eyes.

And doesn't Hinduism have Shiva? I thought that was a female goddess (or am I thinking of someone else?).

In a true religion, all believers only accept the dominion of the One True God. Men and women, nobody can have any power over the other.
Of course, if we don't learn to illuminate our souls, wherever we live, we are always dominated by a more brutal tyrant: our own ignorance.

Well, they were designed to take over the matriarchal religions of the ancient world, so of course they are male dominated. Do you realize that in ancient times property was handed from mother to daughter - the main reason for the change of gender in religions.

They don't need to be. They have become male dominated because of power struggles. If you look at the message of Jesus and most other traditions... women are equal. My tradition believes that God manifests as both Father and Mother based on Hebrew texts and Christian texts. We consider men and women completely equal. Men and women can both be priests/priestesses in my tradition.

They are, most of them. But that doesn't mean that women do not play a big role in them. Look in the Bible and you will find where women have been prophetess', judges, etc. Even see the prolific writer Ellen G. White who has written the most christian books for a woman.

True Isis.

Try the course in miracles. The closest it comes to gender bias is it calls everyone sons of God. Even this denotes equalityin a way because it does not even recognize gender as a reality.

According to the Bible the woman is not to teach man in the church. She is allowed to teach children that is her responsibility but not men. The womens movement has done a diservice to the church. I will not go to a church with a woman pastor as I do not believe it is biblical. I have read alot of the verses and do not find where it is allowed by God. The man is to love the woman as Christ himself loves the church.R,memebering that the church is the group of people not the building. I know alot of people will not agree with me but this is my beliefs and what I live by.
